Valentine Sharing Pastries – With Strawberry Jam & Custard Cream Cheese

Valentine Sharing Pastries - With Strawberry Jam & Custard Cream Cheese

I absolutely love the combo of sweetened cream cheese and strawberry jam… these are such a fab Valentine’s treat and so easy to make with the Northern Dough Company frozen pizza dough @northerndoughco, too… defrost and roll out!

The pretty patterns outside the pastries make them look extra special but aren’t necessary; you could make a pizza crust on the outside if you don’t want the faff.  Both have a sweet custard cream cheese filling, the heart shape one has strawberry jam on top, and the round one has sour cream, sugar, and vanilla topping. Both were scrumptious!!  Decorated with a dusting of icing sugar and some edible glitter for sparkles… Just slice them up like a pizza and indulge!

Ingredients

  • ROUND SHAPE PASTRY
  • 220g Pizza Dough
  • Flour for dusting
  • 150g Philadelphia Cream Cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 100g Caster Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • SOUR CREAM TOPPING
  • 50g Sour Cream
  • 1 tbsp Caster Sugar
  • 0.5 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • TO BRUSH: 1 Egg Beaten
  • HEART SHAPE PASTRY
  • 220g Pizza Dough
  • Flour for dusting
  • 150g Philadelphia Cream Cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 100g Caster Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 tbsp Strawberry Jam
  • DECORATE: Icing Sugar or Edible glitter

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 180°C
  2. Shape the dough on a floured flat surface into a circle shape about 10” wide
  3. To make the ends all twisty, I followed this video on youtube: https://youtu.be/o8S92Bv6kSE, but you do not have to do this. You could fold the ends like a pizza and place them on an oven tray lined with parchment paper.
  4. Mix the cream cheese, egg, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla in a bowl
  5. Spread this mixture into the centre of the dough and brush the edges with the beaten egg mixture
  6. Cook in the oven for 30 minutes until the edges are golden
  7. Meanwhile, in another bowl, mix the sour cream, vanilla, and sugar for the topping
  8. Once the 30 minutes are up, remove from the oven and spread the sour cream mixture on top
  9. Return to the oven for a further 10 minutes, remove, set aside to cool slightly
  10. Decorate the top with your choice of berries
