This has got to be one of my top 5 things to eat and make… it is the ultimate crowd-pleaser starter dish that not only impresses but takes only minutes to prepare and assemble. The citrusy ponzu sauce pairs beautifully with the fatty salmon, creating such melt in your mouth flavour bursting sensations… I’m salivating just writing this!
Amazing when only four ingredients can create such an impact, right? The garlic chive flowers are just me being a bit boujee 🤣, I have a garlic chive plant at home which was flowering, so I wanted to show them off… they do have the most incredible garlicky taste and look soooo pretty too. Still, I know they aren’t their most accessible to come across.
You can change the dish up in so many ways, add store-bought yuzu juice to regular ponzu sauce, add a touch of Japanese shichimi chilli powder or thinly sliced jalapeños for some heat, serve with refreshing pickled ginger or wasabi, even with paper-thin slices of crispy fried garlic would be lush!
I love the Yuzu Ponzu Soy from @clearspringuk, which I used in this recipe. It’s heavenly drizzled on salads; @kikkomanuk also do a Ponzu Citrus Soy, which would work well here too.
