Oh yes.. thin slices of tender miso beef wrapped around asparagus, tender stem broccoli, green beans, and enoki mushrooms.  These beef rolls with a bowl of hot steaming rice are all you need for a perfect comforting diner.

I’m looking forward to leftovers for breakfast tomorrow.. of course, with an oozing fried egg on top! 😋

Ingredients

  • VEG FILLING OF CHOICE – I used asparagus tips, enoki mushrooms, tender-stem broccoli and green beans cut into strips the same width as the beef
  • 400g Extra fine sliced sirloin beef from your butcher
  • 6 garlic cloves crushed
  • 8 spring onions chopped fine
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • 2 tbsp miso paste
  • 2 tbsps soya sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp chilli sauce
  • Cooking oil
  • Sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sauté veg for 2 mins in a pan on med heat with a little oil. The greens should still keep some crunch set aside.
  2. In the same pan on low heat, sauté the garlic and spring onions in 1.5 tbsp butter till a soft paste forms. Add salt and a dash of sesame oil set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix miso, soy, mirin, sugar, chilli sauce, and another dash of sesame oil, set aside. 
  4. Place a slice of beef on a flat surface, rub a little garlic mix on top, place some veg in the centre and roll up like a cigar. 
  5. Repeat with all beef and veg, place in a shallow baking dish and pour the mixture on top to marinate for 15 mins
  6. Heat a grill pan brushed with cooking oil.
  7. Add rolls, cook till charred about 1 min per side, brush with more marinade
  8. Arrange in a platter, garnish with sesame seeds
